These pictures are very unique in that they are made from the bark of the banana tree. As the banana tree grows it “sheds” its’ bark which comes in many different shades of brown, black and tan. We have found that the best artisans that do this work come from the country of Rwanda in central Africa. Sometimes if they lack the proper glue they will use one of their staple foods called “ugali” as a substitute for glue. The picture itself is displayed on the inside of a 11"-12” winnowing basket.
