Here is a set of two beautiful candleholders, featuring an African elephant carved into the center of each one. The carving was done by the world-famous masters of wood: the Makonde Tribe of southern Tanzania, using only simple hand tools of axes, various-sized knives, files and sandpaper. The Makonde craftsman carved each candleholder from a single piece of ebony or teak wood, which are exceptionally hard and richly dark types of wood found at the borderland strip along the tropical regions of Africa. Ebony’s exceptional density makes it both heavy and beautiful in its black, glossy sheen when polished. The Teak wood set shows lovely lines in the rich grained wood.

These candleholders are absolutely beautiful and in perfect condition! My camera just is not able to do justice to these pieces. But I warn you your friends will covet these when they see them displayed in your home!

Each candleholder stands more than 10 inches tall X 2 inches in diameter.
