Soapstone comes from Kisii, a western province of Kenya. In idyllic setting, Kenyan sculptors use traditional tools and methods handed down from father to son, a very important cultural aspect in society. They quarry their own stone and carve it using only hand tools. The artist adapts his work to fit the special attributes of each piece of stone, making every object with its unique variations, a one-of-a-kind work of art. After detailing is done it is polished to a high sheen to unearth an elegant and graceful product for a modern décor.
