Here we are featuring a beautiful necklace made from glass beads and brass. The beads are strung by the women of the Meru tribe who live on the slopes of Mt Kenya, while the brass crescents are designed by the Giriama tribe in the southern part of the country, along the Indian Ocean. This necklace is approx. 17 inches in length. I have necklaces with different color of beads: dark blue, royal purple, multi-colored and all black.
There are 42 different tribes in Kenya and all of them have distinct traditions and customs, which are an important part of their lives. This Kenyan craft woman has taken traditional art and craft elements and traditional designs of various ethnic groups in Africa and put them together to create new jewelry of new and stunning designs.
