Here we are featuring a beautiful necklace made from porcupine quills. These quills are gotten by the Meru peoples of Kenya who live on the slopes, of the forests of Mt. Kenya. The quills are combined with tiny glass beads from the Maasai in central-western region to make this beautiful necklace. Matching earrings are now also available.
There are 42 different tribes in Kenya and all of them have distinct traditions and customs, which are an important part of their lives. This Kenyan craft woman has taken traditional elements and designs of various ethnic groups in Africa and put them together to create new jewelry of unique and stunning designs.
This necklace is approx. 16 inches in length and it fastens with a twisting barrel clasp.
